The North American Beach Wrestling Championships will be being held during the 13th North American Sand Soccer Championships www.sandsoccer.com the largest Sand Soccer Championship in the world with over 7,000 competitors.

Rules

-Men wear athletic swimming trunks or a wrestling singlet, and women wear a one piece bathing suit or a wrestling singlet.
-Athletes wrestle on a sand surface, with a 20-foot diameter circle marked in the sand.
-Matches start in the standing position, and there is no ground wrestling.
-Matches last three minutes.
-Two scoring moves ends each match or 5 point throw.
-Athletes can score with takedowns, throws or when someone steps out of the ring.
Competition Surface:
On sand, inside a circle of 20 foot diameter circle.
Officiating:
The person in charge acts as referee and his/her decisions cannot be questioned.
Ways to get a Victory:
Beach Wrestling is started in the standing position. The victory can be obtained in the following manner:
-By fall when a wrestler touches both shoulders on the ground
-By throw when a wrestler has succeeded in having his opponent touch twice during the match a part of his body on the ground.
-In the action that the attacking wrestler can put one or both knees on the ground.
- By leaving the competition area if a wrestler has succeeded in pushing twice one foot of his opponent out of the competition area.
-By adding to a throw and leaving of the competition area.
-By a (5 point) throw
-By a throw straight to the back and the opponent is pinned. For exp: – if you throw a headlock straight to the back and pin the opponent. If you do a headlock and the opponent rolls through without getting stuck on his back then it is just 1 point.
- By decision of the person in charge when at the end of 3 minutes no action was executed by one wrestler compared with the activity of the other wrestler.
Decision:
At the end of three (3) minutes the wrestler who has scored a takedown or throw will be determined the winner. The criteria are as follows:
-First takedown or throw executed in the bout
-First wrestler penalized for fleeing the competition area in the bout loses
-Penalties
Overtime:
At the end of 3 minutes If there in no score wrestling will continue until someone scores, no time will be kept.
Fleeing:
Fleeing the competition area where a wrestler steps one (1) foot out of the circle first will be penalized. If a wrestler has been penalized two (2) times for fleeing the competition area he/she loses the bout.
Periods:
There will be one 3 minute period.
Prohibition:
-Kick or punch
-Attack the face or the hair
-Cover the body with an oily and slippery substance
-Holds that can lead to a dislocation
-Stopping the match for any reasons is forbidden
-Kick or punch - If a wrestler kicks or punches an opponent they will receive a warning the first time. If the kick or punch was flagrant then the wrestler will be disqualified. If a wrestler is warned a second time they will be disqualified.
-Attacking the face or pulling hair - If a wrestler attacks the face or pulls the hair of an opponent they will receive a warning the first time. If a wrestler is warned a second time they will be disqualified.
-Time Outs and match stoppages will only occur at the direction of referee after a scoring maneuver, fleeing, penalty or holds that can lead to a dislocation.
-Stopping the match for any other reason is forbidden unless of injury or a potentially dangerous situation occurs.
