USA Wrestling statement on social justice

Social injustice is wrong and contrary to the inclusive nature of wrestling. USA Wrestling’s mission is to provide quality opportunities for its members to achieve their full athletic and human potential. Recent tragedies in our nation compel us to do more and do it better. We stand with our African American and black communities and all of the diverse people who are part of our sport. We will focus our actions on how we can drive change against unjust treatment, police brutality, and systematic racism that is plaguing our nation and world. We need to come together now and use our voice, platform, and actions to help create the kind of society that reflects our values. By its nature, wrestling can be the most inclusive sport on earth. Anyone can wrestle and everyone is welcome. When we hit the mat, we are all part of one wrestling family.

Dear Friends :

Update: As the COVID-19 situation continues and changes, we at Virginia Challenge are monitoring the situation on a daily basis,

Please know we have continued to plan the event with the anticipation that we be allowed by authorities to host our events. We will put in place all necessary and or required protections to safely conduct our events , in as near normal as possible.

It is our hope that we can move forward with our events in the fall / winter this year, without disruption. However, that may not be true. We don't know what the new normal will look like or what guidelines/restrictions we may have to follow to ensure the safety of the general public.  Please note as much as we love our sport, public safety remains our utmost concern and priority. We will not hold events if we feel we cannot protect the welfare of our guests.  We appreciate your patience while we all continue going through these challenging times.  Please continue to look for our updates throughout the summer and fall.

Thanks

Virginia Challenge
